Sylver Gregory is another child actor whose early movie roles surged her forward in Hollywood. Starring in family-friendly shows and movies like Family Matters and The Royal Family. Despite the initial recognition and success of her roles, Sylver’s life especially her intimate relationship and marriage remain obscure.
She has taken small roles on the stage in the remake of long-forgotten classic works such as Thomas Wolfe’s Welcome To Our City. Her life remains enshrouded in mystery and here is all we found out about her.
Sylver Gregory has kept her private life under wraps despite the popularity she got from her early roles as a child actress. As of now, not much is known about her previous relationships and marriage.
As the story goes, she is not seen on the big screen these days and has managed to stay away from the media lights. Even though she is still alive, her career is at a slow pace compared to other contemporaries who appeared on TV sitcoms at the same time as herself.
Despite her rise and popularity on the American screen right from the 80s and through the 90s, the former child actress traces her birth to Forte-de-France, Martinique. Silver was born on October 14, 1980, in the French overseas department which is located in the West Indies.
She is linked to the West Indian nation that was until the 20th century notorious for yellow fever and swamps. The area later got drained and now currently shelters the French fleet in the West Indies.
She started out her career as a child actress in sitcoms. At the time she made these appearances, she was still in her formative years. It’s unclear why the actress never took up roles beyond that point yet she remains an integral part of the entertainment industry.
Sylver appeared in these works between the 1980s and 90s and these are:
The Fort-de-France born actress had a role in the Mint Theatre revamped play Welcome To Our City based on Thomas Wolfe’s book of the same name. The play was directed by Jonathan Bank between September to October of 2000. Mint Theatre prides itself in the remake of long-forgotten plays and other art works.
Her role as Annie Johnson is as historical as important to the work of an author whose work only became successful after his death. Other cast members in the play include Michael LiDonci and Haakon Jepson among many others.
The original plot of the book explores the theme of greed in the southern part of the United States in the 1920s yet the work remained dormant for 50 years after the work was abandoned by its author.
The child actress remains a favorite of fans of the 80/90s sitcom The Royal Family. Interestingly, she appeared on the same show as the Glee and Step Up actress, Naya Rivera. In The Royal Family, Rivera was Sylver’s character’s younger sister. Both actresses also appeared on Family Matters. While Sylver’s adult life is still obscure, her former cast member enjoyed a successful career after The Royal Family but later died under tragic circumstances.
Reportedly, Naya Rivera died in a swimming accident at Lake Piru in 2020. The former child actress had gone on a boating trip with her then four-year-old son, Josey Dorsey, and never returned. Official records state the cause of her death to be drowning.
Notably, she may have died trying to save her son who was found by the authorities on their rented boat. Sadly, Rivera despite her zeal for life died at the prime age of 33 leaving behind her son whom she had with her ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey.

Having made remarkable impression as Kim Winston in The Royal Family, it was quite shocking for many fans when the show was cancelled after only one season. The Royal Family had high ratings when it started showing in 1991 but it was later canceled due to poor ratings.
Before then, the character of the family patriarch which was acted by Redd Foxx suffered a heart attack in real life while shooting was ongoing. Many though it was one of Foxx’s gimmicks till he was later pronounced dead.
His death impacted the show deeply and trying to rewrite it led to poor ratings and the eventual cancelation of the Eddy Murphy produced show. Interestingly, the last two episodes that were unaired at the time of the shows cancellation were later aired 27 years later by Classic TV in 2019.
