(CelebrityAccess News Service) — Gloria Gaynor was honored at the World Peace Music Awards in Bali on June 14 for her contributions to world peace through her music and personal sacrifice. The World Peace Music Awards is the first-ever global-scale tribute to musicians, who through their music, personal example, and sacrifice have made major contributions to world peace, harmony and human co-existence. Ms. Gaynor, who is one of the recipients of the award, was chosen by a committee comprised of Nobel Peace Prize winners, philanthropists, United Nations representatives, religious leaders, heads of states and fellow musicians. Pop stars from over 25 countries will perform and celebrate in what is expected to become an annual event.
Proceeds from the event went to several charities, including the International Scholarship Fund for Children and Spouses of Victims of Terrorists Acts. The show was broadcast live with a two hour delay feed to 1.5 billion people in over 100 countries.
In addition to this award, on June 6 Gaynor was also be presented with the “Life of Peace" award from the United States for all her philanthropic contributions to organizations including but not limited to: Red Cross, Unicef, United Negro College Fund and the Cancer Fund, to name a few. — by Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
